Once the board is out of the bag it's nearly ready to ride. Run the engine-bay checks first, then start it with the magnet key — one tap to wake the electronics, a second to crank. The same magnet key stops the engine and powers the board down.

You'll need

An ignition magnet key (two come in the toolkit)
Fuel: pre-mixed 50:1 fuel/oil (gas boards)

Pre-start checks

0:27 — Remove the engine cover: turn every toggle anti-clockwise about half a turn, then lift the cover off.
0:42 — Check the engine bay for debris or anything loose that could get into the moving parts.
0:51 — Check the fuel line is connected to the tank and every pipe is seated. Fuel is a 50:1 fuel/oil mix.
1:06 — Squeeze the throttle on the control handle a few times — it should move smoothly. If it's notchy, something may be caught around the cable at the base.
Refit the engine cover and lock the toggles.

Starting the engine

1:20 — Place the magnet key into the top of the ignition handle.
1:33 — You'll hear the fuel pump / bilge pump run — that wakes the electronics and means the engine is ready.
1:44 — A flashing green light confirms the board is initiated and ready to start.
1:51 — Place the key into the holder a second time. After about three seconds the engine starts.

Stopping & powering off

2:12 — To stop a running engine, pull the key off the handle. The green light keeps flashing — the board stays initiated and ready to restart for about five minutes.
2:28 — To power the board off completely, hold the magnet key against the flashing green light. The light goes out and the board is off.

Tip: the magnet key is a two-tap system — first tap wakes the electronics (pump runs, green light flashes), second tap cranks the engine. If the green light isn't flashing, the second tap won't do anything.

Caution: only run the engine with a water supply — never start it dry out of the water for more than a brief moment. Always do the engine-bay and throttle checks before every session, and use only 50:1 pre-mix.
