The short answer

0:27 — There is no difference in the maintenance itself between riding in salt water and fresh water. The routine is the same either way.

Every ride, salt or fresh

The one thing that matters more in salt water

1:00 — Keep the board as clean as you can — wash it as much as possible to get all the salt water out. 1:08 — Most of the problems riders have after salt-water sessions come down to not cleaning the board well enough.

Tip: the difference isn't what you do, it's how thoroughly. After salt water, spend the extra few minutes rinsing the engine bay, the jet, and every fitting — that's the whole "salt-water maintenance."

Caution: salt left to dry inside the board corrodes connectors and seizes moving parts over time. A rushed rinse after salt water is where long-term damage starts.
