Beyond the board itself, the ride kit is short. The only consumable is fuel; the rest is safety gear.

What you need

  1. 0:27 · Fuel and two-stroke oil — petrol mixed with two-stroke oil at 50:1.
  2. 0:35 · Buoyancy aid — always recommended.
  3. 0:35 · Helmet — a full water-sports helmet at a minimum. (JETSURF racers use a full-face helmet.)
  4. 0:43 · Wetsuit — depending on where you are and the water temperature.

Also recommended

Tip: pre-mix your fuel at 50:1 before you get to the water and label the can — mixing on the beach is where the ratio goes wrong. A dedicated ratio bottle makes it foolproof.
Caution: a buoyancy aid and a helmet are not optional — a jetsurf is a powered watercraft. Match the wetsuit to the water temperature, not the air temperature.
