Do this after every session, no matter which body of water you rode in. A board that gets rinsed every time needs far less major service down the road.
0:04 — After each ride in sweet water, rinse the entire board with fresh water, including the handle and engine.
0:17 — Cover the engine intake with your hand to prevent water from entering, and let the board dry completely.
Steps — riding in salt water
0:04 — After each ride in salt water, rinse the entire board with fresh water, including the handle and engine.
0:18 — Cover the engine intake with your hand to keep water out. Connect a hose to the jet pump via the hook, start the engine only, then turn the water on.
0:27 — Turn the water off, then slowly bring the throttle up with no water running. Let the board dry completely.
Tip: keep a rinse log. Boards that get flushed every session need major service far less often.
Caution: always keep the engine intake covered while spraying, and never let water sit in the jet pump — dry it down completely before storage.

Procedures, torque figures and service intervals vary by model and year: check your owner's manual, and if a job is beyond you, book it with a service centre. Work on your board at your own risk.
