The cleaning attachment feeds a garden hose straight into the engine's cooling circuit. Use it every time you ride in salt water — it's the single most important part of the after-ride clean.

Steps

0:11 — Connect the cleaning attachment to a garden-hose connector.
0:15 — Push the attachment onto the cooling pin inside the impeller and lock it with the rubber ring.
0:18 — Turn the hose on and let the water flow into the board.
0:22 — Start the engine and let it run with the water flowing for at least two minutes.

Tip: engine on before you rely on it running dry, but the water can go on first here since it's feeding the cooling circuit directly. Keep the hose flow moderate — you want water out of the telltale about 30 cm high, not a flood.

Caution: don't run the engine dry for more than a few seconds — this whole procedure exists so it never has to. Two minutes minimum in salt water; skipping it is how the cooling system and exhaust corrode and block. See Blocked cooling system for what that leads to.
