The battery charges inside its bag — that's where it lives. The charger is a smart charger with four modes; you only ever change the mode for storage or travel, otherwise the default gets you to 100% and ready to ride.
Connect the battery
0:26 — Stand the battery bag on its side. Open the access flap and remove the foam to reach the battery's charge connectors.
0:45 — Take the cover off the battery's charge connectors.
1:00 — The charger is plugged into the wall and shows "charger ready, connect battery." Take the cover off the charger's battery lead too.
1:19 — Push the charger lead fully into the battery until the lock clicks — that stops it pulling out.
1:32 — The fan may run and the display shows the current charge level. In the default (standard) mode it charges to 100%.
The four charging modes
Standard — the default when you plug in. Charges to 100%, ready to ride. For normal use you do nothing — plug in and go.
Storage — for when the board sits unused for a while. Charges to 50% and holds the battery at optimum condition. Switch to standard to top up before you ride.
Travel — charges to 30% so the battery is safe to travel with.
Recovery — a slow balance charge for a battery whose voltage has dropped very low. Only use this if the battery got lower than it should have — check the manual first.
Changing the mode
1:56 — Disconnect the battery from the charger and put the covers back on both sets of connectors.
2:15 — Push and hold the menu button for a couple of seconds to bring up the charger menu.
2:24 — Push the button to step through the programs — storage, travel, standard, recovery.
3:49 — With the mode you want shown, push and hold the menu button again for a couple of seconds — the display reads "running <mode> program", then "charger ready, connect battery."
4:02 — Reconnect the battery to the charger. It starts charging in the selected mode.
Tip: for everyday use, leave it in standard and just plug in between rides — no button pressing. Only touch the mode for long storage (storage, 50%) or a flight/shipping (travel, 30%).
Caution: this is a smart charger with three battery sensors — internal box pressure, temperature, and humidity. If any exceeds its safe limit the charger sounds an alarm and alerts you. If that happens, stop and investigate before charging further. Only use the recovery program per the manual.
Keep riding
