The bilge pump clears water from the hull. This is one of the easiest jobs on the board — a single bolt holds it in its bracket and there's one connector. Do it if the pump stops moving water or gets noisy.

Tools & supplies

Removal

  1. 0:00 — Unscrew the bracket bolt.
  2. 0:20 — Carefully slide the pump out of the bracket and disconnect the connector.

Installation

  1. 0:33 — Connect the connector.
  2. 0:51 — Slide the pump into the bracket and secure it with the bolt.
Tip: before you refit, clear any hair or grit from the pump inlet screen and check the outlet hose is still seated — that's usually why a pump "stops working."
Caution: seat the pump fully in its bracket before tightening the bolt so it can't vibrate loose, and make sure the connector clicks home — a half-seated connector corrodes.
